ENGAGING PARENTS
This page contains information for parents on the role of partnerships between schools and parents in supporting sexual diversity. Schools can find the concept of engaging with parents around ideas of sexual and gender diversity challenging. The SSAFE project has produced a small booklet called ‘Creating Safe Schools: the role of partnerships between parents and schools in supporting sexual diversity’ which is designed to bridge this gap.

The booklet includes:

-definitions of terms used
-information around why schools are addressing these issues
-the research detailing the experiences of same sex attracted students
-what the obligations of schools are
-the structures and frameworks that support this work
- the importance of partnerships between schools and parents

For electronic copies of these resources visit the 'SSAFE Resources' section of this web site. For hard copies you can contact the Family Planning Victoria Bookshop and Library, 901 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill, (03)9257-0147.
